Day 1

Ulaanbaatar Arrival

Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, our English speaking professional local guide will warmly welcome the travellers at the airport, and transfer to local restaurant for dinner. After dinner, stop by currency exchange center go to centrally located hotel. Have free time after check-in. Overnight stay is in a hotel.

Day 2

Ulaanbaatar - Yolin Amm – Vulture Valley

Have breakfast at the hotel, and start your journey heading to South Gobi province. On the way observe Mongolian endless steppe terrain and their nomadic dwellers. Have lunch and dinner on the way. In the evening check-in to ger camp near Yolyn Am. Rest overnight.

Day 3

After breakfast, take an excursion to Yolyn am - a deep and narrow gorge that cuts a path through the foothills of mountains and is covered by snow and ice most times of the year. Good trekking gives you stunning photographic opportunities. Then after lunch at the camp start in direction of Khavtsgait Valley. The area is rich of rock carved paintings that date back as early as 3000 B.C. The engravings depict many different animals and scenes, such as mounted hunters in pursuit of their prey. After exploring, continue to Khongor sand dunes known as Singing Dunes. Dinner and overnight are in Khongoryn Els ger camp near the dunes. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

"Amazing Facts
The Gobi Desert, the largest in Asia and the fifth largest in the world, is in Mongolia. The Gobi was once a sea and now filled with marine fossils. Roy Chapman Andrews made the first discovery of dinosaur eggs in the Gobi. His exploits inspired the creation of Indiana Jones. Many dinosaur fossils still lie exposed.

Day 4

Bayanzag

In the morning, explore the Khongor sand dunes. It is called singing dunes because of those deep and distant sounds which come from these dunes when winds disturb its surface. Climbing up the dunes will be challenging, but it rewards you with a breath taking panoramic view over the horizons. It is possible to enjoy a short camel ride (optional). After lunch in the camp, transfer to Flaming cliffs site and Bayanzag (forest of the Gobi). Dinner and overnight in a ger camp. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5

Flaming Cliffs - Ongyn Khiid

After breakfast, discover the area of where first paleontological finding in Mongolia was found by following footsteps of famous American explorer Roy Chapman Andrews. His expedition to that very place discovered the first ever dinosaur eggs in the world. Then have lunch back at the ger camp, and start to north heading Ongyn Khiid. It is a sight worthy monastery ruins on Ongi River, formerly one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia which was completely destroyed by 1930’s communist purge. A large number of ruins including a tall stupa, can be seen on the river and on the surrounding hills. Observe the ruins of Ongy Monastery and photograph mysteriously beautiful surrounding area after visiting a small temple which was built on its destroyed grounds. Day 6

Karakorum

After breakfast, travel to Karakorum, the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire. Drive for about 320 km earth road. Upon arrival, visit Erdene Zuu Monastery, which was once one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia, and then was mostly destroyed in the 1930s. Tour the renovated monastery grounds and visit several chapels with excellent examples of Buddhist iconography dating from the 16th century. Visit the symbolic ruins of Karakorum. Dinner and overnight stay are in a ger camp. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7

Tsenkher Hot Springs

In the morning, drive to the Tsenkher hot springs. This day is for relaxing in the natural hot springs which will shake off your weariness. Bring your swimsuit for this day. Walking in the surrounding forest is possible. Your may have a small hike to a nearby mountain where stunning view awaits. Optional massage and beauty services are available. Enjoy the hot springs any time of the day. Lunch, dinner and overnight are in a ger camp. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8

Great White Lake

Today, travel further west to Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan. Once in destination, fishing, bird watching, and swimming activities are available as the lake supports plenty of fish starting with well-known pike, also very rare birds and migratory waterfowls. The lake was formed as a result of volcanic eruption about 9000 years ago, where upper and lower Therkhiin rivers had been bordered by the Khorgo volcano’s burning lava. Khorgo extinct volcano crater is also an interesting sightseeing point. Lunch, dinner and overnight in a ger camp by the lakeshore. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 9

Khatgal village – Lake Huvsgul

After breakfast, start to Lake Huvsgul. Have lunch on the way and Dinner in Murun town. Arrive in the lakeshore by evening and check-in to a ger camp by the shore. Lake Huvsgul is the biggest fresh water lake in Mongolia, second in Asia only after Lake Baikal (Russia). Overnight stay is in a ger camp. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 10

Lake Huvsgul

Early in the morning, a walk by the lakeshore is highly recommended. Usually the mist takes off from water by sunrise, when you get a chance to see the beautiful mystical environment. After breakfast, visit a reindeer herder’s family and learn about their distinct culture and lifestyle. Optional rafting and kayaking activities are available. Dinner and overnight in a ger camp. Day 11

Bulgan province / Uran Togoo extinct volcano crater

After breakfast drive to Uran Togoo, an extinct volcano in Bulgan province. You will have a scenic drive with endless green pastures and deep blue sky. Lunch is on the way or in a ger camp upon arrival. The volcano crater is of a humble but noteworthy design which has a round shaped deep black lake in the middle of it. Dinner and overnight stay in “Unit” ger camp. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 12

Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast drive back to Ulaanbaatar and arrive by evening. Lunch is on the way. Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, we welcome you to a traditional concert of folk songs and dances, and a farewell dinner. Later check–in to your hotel and prepare for next day’s departure. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
